DALZIEL Dragons mini-rugby teams recently took part in a triangular competition with Cartha and Whitecraigs.
A depleted Dalziel primary seven side were beaten 3-0 by Cartha and lost 2-0 to Whitecraigs.
It was a brave performance and the low scoreline reflects the effort the Dalziel side put in.
Primary six had a comfortable win over Cartha, running in plenty of tries throughout the contest to continue their recent winning run.
It was the smallest pitch the P6 team had encountered this season and this worked in the Dalziel side’s favour, given the strength of their forward pack.
Whitecraigs did not have a team to field at this level.
The small primary five team pulled off a thrilling 7-6 victory over Whitecraigs before defeating Cartha 9-4, producing some great attacking moves and showing strength in defence.
The club’s primary four squad had a good turn-out of nine players to play their Cartha counterparts.
A strong team stormed into a 7-1 lead and despite a Cartha comeback they ended up comfortable 12-4 winners.
Meanwhile the primary one to three sides also took part in what was an enjoyable day. These scores are not recorded.
