Dragons entertain the Wanderers

THE Dalziel Dragons were visited on Saturday by Greenock Wanderers.

The Dragons P4 sides put in a stellar performance to notch up two resounding victories in a double-header against Greenock. Both of the P5 matches between the visitors and the Dragons were high- scoring games. In the first, Greenock were 3-0 up before the home side replied with scores from Owen Jeffries (2) and Benjamin.

It was Greenock who went in 6-3 ahead but the home side stormed back thanks to scores from Jamie Lang, Bradley Palmer, Andrew Findlay and two more from Jeffries although Greenock prevailed 11-8. The second game saw Dragons get their revenge as they upped their defensive effort. Jeffries scored four tries and Jamie Lang netted a double which saw them start the second half 6-1 ahead.

Greenock pulled a couple back early in the second half but another three tries from Jeffries and one apiece for Findlay and Lang saw Dalziel win 11-5.

The P6 side also played two games against the Wanderers. Ruaridh Waddell opened the scoring but the visitors hit back with a well worked try of their own despite great tackling by Cameron Watson. Abigail Quinn set up Ruaridh Waddell for a second. Quinn and Declan O’Shea (2) scored in the second half but the visitors claimed a narrow 6-5 success.

In the second game Dalziel gained revenge with a 5-4 win.
