Dalziel Rugby Club sevens
DALZIEL travelled through to Edinburgh last Friday to take part in the second leg of the Legacy 7s circuit at Meggetland, home of Premier One side Boroughmuir.
In a change to the format of the previous week, teams were placed in groups of three, with Dalziel paired up against Howe of Fife and Dundee HSFP.
Howe of Fife had won the Stirling County Sevens the week before and had beaten Dundee in the semi-finals.
In their first game, Dalziel played Howe and were taught a 7s lesson.
The Fifers made better use of the ball scoring seven tries to win 47-0.
After a short break, Dalziel played Dundee HSFP in their second game.
Having lost 38-5 to Dundee the week before Dalziel knew they faced another stern test.
Crawford Reid gave Dalziel a shock early lead before Dundee responded immediately scoring two tries before half-time.
The Taysiders then touched down for a further two tries in the second half to claim a sound 24-5 victory.
Dundee went on to win the Plate competition while Howe of Fife lost 26-24 to hosts Boroughmuir in the final of the main event.
Next week Dalziel are competing in the Howe of Fife Sevens where they will again face Dundee HSFP in their opening game.
Dalziel squad: Crawford Reid, Stuart McLelland, Lee McWhinnie, Dougie Picken, Euan Watt,
